Happify: A Game about Subjective Well-Being
Students developed a board game that incorporated numerous concepts from subjective well-being science. Unlike conventional board games like Monopoly or The Game of Life where the objective is to accumulate as much money as possible, in Happify, players aim to achieve the most happiness. Players choose from a variety of experiences (e.g., shopping, travel, love, career, and more), but also luck determines some outcomes, too. Students consulted with a game developer as well as pilot tested earlier versions of their game. Students played the final version with over 30 community members and received tremendously positive feedback.
